Somebody posted this on the Lap-band forums, it was written by a doctor, and I found it very interesting! This has actually always been my philosophy on the band (since I was banded). I never believed in the "sweet spot" or that one day I'd suddenly be able to just eat nothing and be really full. The hunger control makes much more sense. I wish the doctors would explain it to you like this, and how to work with your lack of hunger. I think everyone would be much more successful. OR it would stop some people from getting the band, if they understood how it really works.

In other news, not much going on here. I'm slacking on my diet, but I got back on track today and I started writing a food log again. So hopefully the scale will get moving again!
I have read this article before and it really does clear things up a bit. So many people think that it is a magic tool but it isn't. We still have to work on mental hunger, real hunger and re learning how to eat.
ReplyDeleteYES! My LB doc is the one who wrote this article. :) Dr. Simpson rocks! He is very inspirational and always tells it like it is. I always go in expecting to get a mental spank and he always tells me I am right where I should be. :) It's awesome.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a piece of plastic! If you REALLY think about it... It doesn't do magical things LOL. I think this gives me a better idea of how to work with my band.
ReplyDeleteHeather - This article was a big light bulb moment for me. Thank you so much for posting it! -Kim at Seattle Lap Band

ReplyDeleteThank's Kim, yes same for me. Well, I always figured that was the case.. but that definitely put things into perspective for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Lap Band Girl! I'll follow you too!
I really enjoyed readint this article. I liked the part the most talking about how the pouch affects the hypothalamus thermostat so that our body does not go into starvatin mode. I am a nursing student and this completely made sense. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing I just got banded and I could use some good info.
